Urban Mayer has been appointed Jaguar’s head coach

Jacksonville – Officially: Urban Meyer is the Jaguars’ new head coach.

Mayer, one of the most successful coaches in college football history, was appointed on Wednesday as head coach of Jaguar. The team announced the news in a statement Wednesday.

Mayer, 56, has coached collectively in Bowling Green, Utah, Florida, and Ohio State. He went 187-32 as a college coach, coaching Florida for national titles after the 2006 and 2008 seasons and Ohio State for a national title after the 2014 season. He went 17-6 in Bowling Green (2001-2002), 22-2 in Utah (2003-2004) , 65-15 in Florida (2005-2010) and 83-9 in Ohio (2012-2018).

Meyer, who will succeed Doug Maroney, became the sixth permanent coach of Jaguar in 27 seasons. Tom Coughlin was a head coach from 1995 to 2002, with Jacques Del Rio holding the position from 2003 to 2011, and Mike Mullarkey in 2012 filled it. Jos Bradley from 2013-2016, and Maroney has operated from 2017 to 2020.

The Jaguars went from 1 to 15 in 2020 and entered the holiday season with overall choice # 1 in the 2021 NFL Draft. This is the first time that Jaguar has ranked first.

The position of General Manager of Jacquars remains open, with Lieutenant General David Caldwell expelled from the position on November 29.
