WWE booked this week’s episode from Monday Night Raw About a host of legends returning, sure, but ended up playing supporting roles with a focus on the main event: Drew MacIntyre vs. Keith Lee in the WWE Championship.
Hulk Hogan MacIntyre put on just fine while Lee was left to risk, uh, Riddle died. Despite that last point, the match was treated like a big show legitimately and presented me like a worthy competitor. They were given nearly half an hour, and all the legends sat at the top of the stage to watch.
What they were treated like was a back and forth physical battle of attrition. There was no doubt that MacIntyre would retain the title, which he absolutely did after a Claymore off-ropes game, but Lee did one hell of a job there in the big game.
Then Goldberg returned.
He has claimed that MacIntyre does not have enough respect for the legends who are back and wants to challenge him for a WWE Championship match at the Royal Rumble on January 31. McIntyre claimed it would be like fighting his father, Goldberg pushed him, and the show went off the air.
This totally overshadowed what I thought was a solid performance from Lee but hey, that’s WWE. We know the deal now.
