Looking to rent a sedan for five passengers? Something a step up from a Toyota Camry or a Honda Accord? There are a lot of good deals at the end of the year. Maybe a 2020 Nissan Maxima? That’s $ 309 a month for 36 months and $ 3,859. Or a 2022 Toyota Avalon for $ 389 for 36 months, with $ 3,688 at signature. Or the 2020 Lexus ES 350 for $ 329 for 36 months, with a decrease of $ 2,899.
Or do you want to be a little adventurous? We’ll explain what that means shortly.
The rental contract that caught my eye: a new deal Alfa Romeo Giulia For $ 279 a month for 39 months, and $ 2,278 payable upon signature without a security deposit.
Julia? For less than $ 300 a month? And best of all, is it a rental contract? Because Alpha since her return to the United States, It didn’t exactly get honors for the quality of its build. Fortunately, it hasn’t been ranked in the current Consumer Reports version of the brand’s reliability because, like eight other brands, there aren’t enough cars out there to collect data on them.
But do not argue with that New Car Post CR, Julia’s reliability rating is one of those red balls with two arrows down, manufacturers hate to see. But hey, and so is the Dodge Durango Hellcat. And you’re gonna take one of these, right?
But the other side of the coin: Consumer Reports gives Julia two arrows in green to please the owner, which means the owners love her, and dealers seem to fix cars if they are broken, quickly and satisfactorily.
It shouldn’t be difficult. Every Alfa test car I’ve driven in the past three years has encountered at least one problem, in all but one case, something minor and electric, like a light that won’t turn on or off. The folks at Fiat Chrysler tell me things are better, and with a fully green owner’s satisfaction rating I have to believe them.
So when I say adventure, I mean it in two ways: in the sense of reliability mentioned above, and in the sense of the traditional Italian Alfa Romeo, which means the car is fun to drive. Even the base model I’m talking about here, with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and 280hp and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The interior is well presented. Even the rear seats are surprisingly spacious.
The base 2020 car, which costs $ 40,695 with shipping, is well-equipped, including a forward collision warning and an automatic braking standard. City 24 mpg mileage, 33 highway.
And apparently, there are many more. Alpha tells me in My Area, there are 66 to choose from.
People who don’t care much about quality issues at Alfa think that a car right is the one that handles great, and this one does. Non-car folks in the Alfa-Romeo brand think of the same class as Maserati and Aston-Martin, for example, and they’ll think of you as a cylinder high until someone tells them your car costs a little more than just a Toyota loaded Toyota Camry XSE.
So if you want to impress people, quickly adjust the hook. Recall Formula One team. Not just the last time they won. I don’t endorse Alfa-Romeo Giulia (pronounced Julia; don’t embarrass yourself), but for $ 279 a month, you’ll be on my shortlist.
